For the vast majority of Americans, Nazis are a national security threat, but to Fox News and their viewers, Nazism is a qualification for national security expert. According to Sean Hannity, one of Fox News’ top hosts, and loyal Trump sycophant, Sebastian Gorka was just hired as a national security strategist at Fox. Gorka is a Nazi, and no, that’s not hyperbole.
“Joining us now is Dr. Sebastian Gorka,” Hannity said on his radio show. “I can officially announce today he is a Fox News national security strategist.”
“It’s in large part, really, thanks to you, Sean,” Gorka replied. “You’ve been a great supporter, not only of myself, but of the administration and the President, and it’s great to be back as part of the superb Fox family.”
There are so many things wrong with that pick, beginning with the fact that Gorka, who could be the creepiest of the creepy Trumpsters (and this is an administration that hired this guy), is linked to a Nazi group in Hungary. He even wore a medal from the Nazi-linked Hungarian group Vitezi Rend to Trump’s inauguration.
Gorka has long shown total hostility toward Islam but he downplays the threat of white supremacy.
As Gorka sees it, radical Muslim terrorists are the primary threat facing the United States. He has repeatedly dismissed the terror threat from white supremacists, despite warnings from the FBI and Department of Homeland Security about them. Last week, days before the Charlottesville attack, he went on Breitbart’s radio show and bashed the media for writing that white supremacists contribute to the country’s terrorism threat (they do).
Gorka worked for a time as a national security advisor to Trump. He allegedly holds a PhD in the subject, but even one of Gorka’s PhD advisors doubts he’s qualified for the post:
“I would not call him an expert on terrorism,” said Stephen Sloan, a retired professor of political science who spent much of his career at the University of Oklahoma. Though he said Gorka is “knowledgeable” about terrorism matters, “his level of expertise does not match the level where he stands in the White House.”
Beyond that, even Gorka’s educational credentials are in doubt:
“Gorka is… a snake-oil salesman whose supposed Ph.D dissertation would have never passed muster in America or Britain,” writes Andrew Reynolds, a University of North Carolina political scientist. “To put the cherry on the cake was approved by an fraudulent panel of examiners.”
Gorka, who grew up in Britan and moved to his father’s homeland of Hungary, was awarded his PhD in 2007 by a place called Corvinus University in Budapest, a little-known institution that Reynolds says has no international profile.
Gorka is a poorly qualified national security expert who was driven from the Trump White House for being too nuts — in the nuttiest White House in American history. He’s a white supremacist and he’s a perfect fit for Fox News, circa 2017, the home to angry and aging white men. Sean Hannity is thrilled:
“Welcome to the Fox family,” Hannity told Gorka. “You’re a true patriot hero and an amazing, amazing political analyst and strategic analyst. Thank you for being with us and we’re so happy for your success.”
Well, Sean, your “family” is only slightly less repulsive than the Manson Family.
