Chief of Staff John Kelly is frustrated with White House advisers and ad-hoc assistants Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump — and is questioning not only their role in the White House but their everyday tasks. It’s reported that Kelly is angry with the pair, with his patience wearing thin due to the couple influencing President Donald Trump and his policies.
Kelly is also perplexed by their everyday tasks, saying that they are “freelancing” around, according to the AP. This revelation comes on the heels of Kushner’s limited clearance level, grid locking him from obtaining sensitive information. This clearance level was enacted by Kelly, with Kushner and Ivanka reportedly seeing this change as a personal attack.
Trump’s Nepotism is Failing
Several politicians have been skeptical of Kushner, especially since he does not have governing or political experience. Sen. Chris Murphy, a prominent voice on foreign policy, has noted that Kushner might’ve swayed foreign policy against Qatar for personal financial reasons. “If it’s true, it’s damning. If it’s true, Jared Kushner has to go,” Murphy said on ABC News.
Kushner is also getting flack from within the administration — Trump is looking for a way to oust his son-in-law and his daughter. The New York Times reported that the president is frustrated with all the coverage and drama surrounding the couple. Trump has been ridiculed for his shortcomings as a leader and president, but this might be the first public spat that might cost Ivanka and Kushner their jobs.
Last month, Kelly wrote that he has full confidence in Kushner: ” I have full confidence in his ability to continue performing his duties in his foreign policy portfolio including overseeing our Israeli–Palestinian peace effort and serving as an integral part of our relationship with Mexico.”
It seems like we might be seeing a change of heart.
